Customer story Mayer-Elicker
From building experience – the first residential and office building in Germany and the renovation in France – the couple knew exactly how the new house should be: open, friendly, easy to live in even in old age, and with two full storeys. The couple recorded their ideas in sketch plans. Architect Mario Boss, who is experienced in the Schwörer system, was full of praise and made the building project a dream villa with his additions. The couple discovered the building plot for themselves between Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano, 3 km from the Italian border. A location with convenient transport connections in the south of Switzerland was important, so that the journey to their holiday home by the sea in southern France does not take too long.
Between palms and the lush green of the garden, the house on the hillside sparkles in friendly yellow.
Dark green window shutters, the red-tiled, hipped roof, white window frames with slender mullions and the white purlin profiles of the roof undersides give the house a Mediterranean flair with elements of German architecture. The canopy supported by thin posts shelters the entrance area and garage, so that the occupants can enter the house with dry feet. It also extends to the south side, where it serves as a welcome patio canopy.
The generous entrance offers a friendly welcome. From here, doors lead off to the comfortable home office and guest bedroom with shower. A straight, single-flight staircase, which can easily be fitted with a stair lift if required, leads to the upper floor. Here, the floor plan layout is customised to the living requirements of the building owners. Two further rooms allow retreat and relaxation.
The centrepiece of the villa is the long, open, living/dining/kitchen area on the ground floor. In the beautiful living area, the sofa decorated with plenty of cushions and a brick fireplace invite you to linger. The reddish wood of the table and chairs is repeated in the worktop and in the walls of the open-plan kitchen, which are partially timber-clad. “However, in the summer, we prefer to stay outside on the west patio under the pergola with the vine branches and to enjoy the evening sun and holiday atmosphere,” they both agree.
