The components for energy-efficient and ecological, prefabricated, timber houses are produced from timber products on the latest production systems – to strict quality standards.
In addition to in-house quality management, as a member of the German federal association for prefabricated construction (BDF), both component production and prefabricated house installation from SchwörerHaus undergo an annual, external quality inspection by the German prefabricated construction quality community (QDF).
The scrap wood from production that can no longer be processed industrially serves as fuel for the company’s own biomass power plant.
The result is a Co2-neutral energy supply, which covers the production heat and heating demands of the factory in Hohenstein-Oberstetten, as well as providing heat for neighbouring businesses. Moreover, eco-power from the biomass power plant and a photovoltaic system on the roof of a production hall are fed into the mains grid. The volume is calculated as enough to supply a town with a population of 65,000 people.
This aspect is part of the Schwörer strategy to keep environmental impact as low as possible, with a sustainable production concept across the entire product lifecycle from tree trunk to finished house.
SchwörerHaus displays an unusually great depth of in-house production for the industry: all houses come from in-house production, from basement to roof. As the principal construction material here, the company consistently uses timber that comes mainly from PEFC-certified, sustainable forestry in forests within a radius of around 60 kilometres around the Swabian headquarters. This guarantees very short transport routes and a low environmental impact, as well as boosting the economic power of the region. The Schwörer group is one of the industry leaders in prefabricated construction. We are a family company that was founded by Hans Schwörer in 1950 as a retailer of construction materials, and we now have around 1,800 employees on seven sites all over Germany. With its houses, SchwörerHaus stands for bespoke, contemporary architecture. From basement, through production in the sawmill and in the prefabricated house factory as well as in our own furniture joinery, to installation on the construction site: customers receive everything from a single source. As well as having a highly thermally insulated, watertight building envelope, all Schwörer houses are equipped with cutting-edge technology.
Schwörer houses are also one step ahead in terms of healthy living, using certified materials and thus ensuring low pollutant levels in the indoor air. Furthermore, SchwörerHaus integrates a controlled airing and ventilation system as standard, which constantly improves the living climate and reduces energy consumption – an in-house development under the name Schwörer heat recovery technology, which represented a revolution in house building when it was first used in 1983 but has now long since become a general building standard. With a heat pump and ceramic booster heating elements as an extension, SchwörerHaus has developed this further into an energy-efficient fresh air heating system.
In a synergy effect, the ventilation system is used here as a heating system. Moreover, the construction crew and construction manager receive regular training on healthy construction and, if desired, building owners can have certified ambient air measurements taken in the course of building acceptance. A large-scale practical test by the prestigious Sentinel Haus Institut and TÜV Rheinland with ambient air measurements in 650 customer houses proves that Schwörer houses meet the highest standards for indoor air quality. The study results can be read in the advice book “Gesünder Bauen und Wohnen” (building and living more healthily), which also includes many practical tips for healthier everyday living.
